I was born and raised in the Bay Area and have been sewing professionally for about 30 years. Like many of my generation, I was inspired by and took part in the arts movement of the 70s. I combined that inspiration with my love for fabrics and sewing and enrolled in a fashion arts program where I studied textiles, ready-to-wear, and couture techniques.

My sewing business interests have evolved over the years. Early in my career I was part owner of a hand-made clothing boutique, As You Like It on College Avenue in Oakland, California, where one could find creative designs, hand painted, and embellished wearable art from various Bay Area craftswomen. After a few years my partners and I decided to close the store to pursue other interests. That was also about the time my husband and I decided to start a family.
